Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief

Chainsaw Safety

Volunteers in this area of disaster relief cut and remove downed trees from homes and buildings; stack logs in a location designated by each property owner; and pull brush and stack accordingly. This work usually takes place following tornadoes, ice storms and hurricanes.

Through training, disaster relief volunteers learn a consistent and safe method of chainsaw operations. Safety is of utmost importance, and all volunteers will wear safety attire and use the chainsaw equipment that is provided.

Volunteers serving on the chainsaw team are required to complete the following training:

  • Phase I - Involving Southern Baptists in Disaster Relief
  • Phase II - Chainsaw Safety Training
  • Phase II - Chainsaw Operation Certification
