Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief

Emergency Child Care

Disaster Relief Mobile Child Care (DRMCC) volunteers care for children in the aftermath of a disaster, while parents work with relief agencies, insurance, FEMA or go to work. This is a ministry where children and parents are shown the love of Jesus at a time when care and attention are vital needs in their lives. The DRMCC provides children with love, continuity, cleanliness, acceptance and a calm atmosphere. It provides a ministry of relief, understanding, compassion, love, referrals and sharing the gospel.

DRMCC volunteers are "ambassadors for Christ," and, as representatives of the local church and association, they assist in the building of a caring atmosphere. They also remain awareness of missions opportunities and provide follow-up information to local churches and associations.

Duties include unloading equipment from a trailer into a safe and secure location, sanitizing the area, and cleaning toys after use. DRMCC equipment is separated into age groups for ease of use. Volunteers will provide loving care for children and sympathy for their parents.

Volunteers serving on the DRMCC team are required to complete the following training:

  • Phase I - Involving Southern Baptists in Disaster Relief
  • Phase II - Emergency Child Care Training
